Specifications
Steel case
The MZ series frame is manufactured from aluminum profile type EN AW 6060, inter-connected with three-dimensional metallic corners. This construction method offers a solder free body, allowing easy assembly and diss-assembly, usually required during on-site installation.
Each part of the air handling unit is independently constructed in an extremely precise frame, allowing absolute alignment among modules. Side panels include insulating materials such as 50kg/m3 density glass wool or 50mm three-component polyurethane. Electrostatic painted exterior covers complete the set.
A 70μ thick electrostatic paint layer protects the air processing that takes place inside the unit from the sun, thus considered important. Covers can be easily removed to help maintenance access.
Moreover a strong mounting base is provided for the absolute alignment of the air handling unit, fabricated from aluminum profile, to achieve resistance and durability.
Fan Section
Fan sections are composed by a fan blade, motor, motor base and an independent frame that is positioned through armored silent blocks. The gear ratio between the fan blade and motor offers accurate adjustment of the desired air volume and static pressure.
The motion transmission is done through driving belts that vary not only in quantity but also in air ducts’ breadth depending on their chosen function. Pulleys are secured at the transmission axle with a separate taper bush.
Fans incorporated in the air handling units vary between different types. Centrifugal Type, double suction with forward or backward blades (not overcharged type). The high-quality rubber-covered junction prevents any vibration. The fan is constructed from galvanized plate and blades are dynamically and statically stabilized. The motor is placed on a base equipped with glissade side supports to allow precise adjustment of the pulleys and easy maintenance. Fan motors with a power range over 7,5 KW must be connected with a special star-triangle electric connection to achieve correct startup. The motor is three-phase short-circuited runner with IP 55 protection
Water coils
Water coils (COIL SECTION) work as air-water alternating-current generator transferring energy from hot or cold water to the air to be processed by the unit.
They are manufactured from 3/8 or 5/8 diameter copper pipe and aluminum fins at a row gap of 2~3mm depending on the desired efficiency. Each section is tested under a pressure of 400 psi before assembly. The Coil section frame is fabricated by galvanized aluminum plate. In case that the air handling unit operates in heating, the air flows through the bladed surface with a speed of up to 3,5m/s.
Under cooling or dehumidifying operation speed is up to 2,0-2,5 m/s in the case of operating without a droplet separator, or 3,0 m/s in case of operating with a droplet separator. Separators are fabricated from PVC profile, and rely on aerodynamic resistance caused by the sinusoidal shape to remove droplets with diameter larger than 2μm, carried within processed air.
At this section a water or steam humidifier can be also installed, designed to add moisture to the air. This function is achieved through a coppered hydraulic spray system ending to conic nozzles, which is placed among the water elements and a droplet separator, which is also required in the case of adopting this option. In order to achieve dehumidification, a thermal element is added at the last step of the air treatment process. Applying all above solutions can allow standard moisture and temperature control in the space.
Energy recovery
An air-to-air recuperator transfers energy that is contained in the ‘dirty’ exhaust air to the “fresh” air that is being supplied inwards to the space in question. This advantage leads to a clean and healthy indoors environment together with an impressive reduction in energy consumption compared to regular ventilation systems.
The recovery of the energy is achieved with the following systems:
- Air-to-Air plate heat exchanger with energy efficiency of more than 50%.
- Rotary air-to-air heat exchanger with energy efficiency of more than 90%.
In case of rotary type, the heat exchanger is rotated by a small electric motor. SKIRON heat exchangers are “EUROVENT” certified.
Our range of MZ products is produced in many different sizes, to cover the various needs of each building. They include two centrifugal fans, powered by single phase or three phase electric motors that transmit power by pulleys and belts. Fan static pressure is pre-determined in every different case in order to meet the standards of each building. In addition, each product includes two different EU3 category, or finer if required, air filters. Filters sections are designed for easy access and removal by use of covers and handles. The structure is made of EN AW 6060 aluminum profile, joined by 3-dimentional corners. Covers are made of galvanized steel and are complete with insulation material such us polyethylene and film of 10mm aluminum foil producing a heat coefficient of 0,34 W/mk0 at 0 °C.
Filter section
Filter sections contain EU3-EU7 category filters. EU3 filters are placed in all cases as standard. They are the best choice in withholding coarse particles of dust and other debris. They are most commonly used as prefilters, to prolong life for subsequent filters of higher performance.
Able to withhold dust bigger than 5μm in diameter, those are fabricated by synthetic washable and reusable material. Filter air speed does not exceed 2,5m/s. In order to achieve improved air purification, a second phase of EU4 and/or EU5 filtering may be used. At this stage filters can withhold particles with diameter smaller than 1-4 μm and they are manufactured from synthetic material or fiberglass fibers (EU-5).
For the most advanced air purification needs, third phase filters are placed in the air handling unit, the EU6 and EU7 absolute filters. EU-6 are fabricated by fiberglass paper blades in close arrangement, and EU-7 are in essence electrostatic filters.
In both cases, the particles withheld do not exceed 0,9μm in diameter. SKIRON advise first phase filters to be placed under all circumstances. Second phase filters may be in demand in household, school, restaurant, commercial areas and industrial environment etc. Third phase filters are placed wherever maximum air purification is demanded, such as food production & packaging, bottling industries, chemical laboratories and operating rooms/theatres.
